Dragomir Josifov

Dragomir Josifow ( Bulgarian Драгомир Йосифов ; born June 11, 1966 in Varna ) is a Bulgarian composer , conductor and pianist .

He studied choral and orchestral conducting and composition with Lasar Nikolow and Boschidar Spassow at the National Music Academy in Sofia . He later completed his composition studies with Theo Loevendie and Ton de Leeuw in Amsterdam and with Anatol Vieru in Bucharest. He founded the Musica Nova Sofia ensemble , directed the Prof. Wassil Arnaudow choir and the Radio Bulgaria choir . He is currently the choir director at the Plovdiv Opera .

His works have been performed at the Berlin Music Biennale , Moscow Autumn and Trieste. In 1998 he won first prize at the composition competition Prof. Ivan Spassov in Plovdiv. He mainly composes instrumental works in which he uses experimental playing techniques and micro- chromatics to create timbre movements with constant transformations.
