Radio Bulgaria (formerly Radio Sofia ) is the foreign service of the Bulgarian state broadcaster based in Sofia .

history

Shortwave broadcasts on Bulgarian Radio in foreign languages ​​were recorded in 1937. The international service began at this point with broadcasts in German , English , French and Italian . The Italian-speaking service has since been discontinued. There were also programs in Albanian , Greek , Russian , Serbian , Spanish and Turkish .

Radio Bulgaria has been operating its own internet service since May 17, 2004 and streaming its programs on the internet. On February 1, 2012, the station stopped its shortwave broadcasts in favor of broadcasting over the Internet.

The last audio broadcast of the international service was on the Internet on May 31, 2017. The German-language website is to be switched off shortly.
