Matar Jarju

Matarr Jarju (also spelled Matarr Jarjue ) (* 1957 in Gambia ) is a former wrestler from the West African state of Gambia. He took part in the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul.

He entered the competition of the wrestlers in the category freestyle in the weight class middleweight (up to 82 kg) and started in group A. He lost his first fight against the Argentine Daniel Iglesias . In the second round he was defeated by the Japanese Atsushi Ito , which meant the end of the competition for Jarju after two defeats.

After a sporting career

Jarju was elected President of the Gambia Wrestlers Association in November 2007 , replacing Abdul Shyllon as his successor.
