Drakkar is a Belgian power and speed metal band from Jurbise that was founded in 1983, disbanded after 1988, reunited in 1998, disbanded again in 1999 and reunited in 2012.
history
The band was formed in 1983. Over the next two years the band worked on the first tracks, so in 1985 the first demo was released. The demo was produced by Rudy Lenners . Through the demo, the band reached a contract with Mausoleum Records . In 1985 and 1986 appearances in Belgium and in northern France followed . In 1987 the band took on another demo again with Rudy Lenners. Through the demo the band got a contract with Musidisc . With this label the group released their debut album X-Rated in 1988. The album was released all over Europe . Further appearances followed, including appearances as the opening act for Queensrÿche , Metallica , Overkill and Slayer . A year later, the band broke up for the time being.
In 1998 the band got back together and released another demo the following year. From August 1999 the first appearances took place again, but the band broke up in the same year. After another break, the band got back together in January 2012. In the same year, X-Rated Reloaded , a remastered re-release of the debut album, with a new cover design and additional, previously unreleased songs, was released.

The band plays a mix of classic, melodic heavy metal and speed metal and is comparable to groups like the early Metallica , Tokyo Blade and Helloween .
