Twist

The Drallewatsch is a bar mile in downtown Leipzig . The name goes back to the Saxon expression "to go for a spin", which means something like "to experience something" or "to pull around the houses".

The project was launched in 1996 by several Leipzig restaurateurs with the aim of making Leipzig city center more attractive for tourists. The name was chosen by the readers of the Leipziger Volkszeitung .

The area is located within the inner city ring of Leipzig between Richard-Wagner-Platz and Burgplatz and leads through Große and Kleine Fleischergasse, Barfußgässchen and Klostergasse past the Matthäikirchhof and the Thomaskirchhof .

Are over 30 on the Drallewatsch restaurants , restaurants , bars and pubs . The most famous restaurants in Leipzig's gastronomic history include the Coffe Baum (the oldest coffee house in Germany), Barthels Hof , Zills Tunnel (in which the song The Wandering is the miller's lust was first sung by Carl Friedrich Zöllner ), the Thuringian Court and the Ratskeller Leipzig .

In addition to the gastronomic facilities, the Drallewatsch area also houses traditional cultural facilities such as the Bach Museum and the Saxon Pharmacy Museum . The putti fountain (" Lipsia fountain ") by Max Lange stands on the square in front of the coffee tree . In the inner courtyards of the baroque building " Webers Hof " and the rococo building "Becksches Haus" there are theater performances in summer.
