Cardiovascular diseases increased in the post-war years. The Landesversicherungsanstalt Rheinland-Pfalz (LVA) did not have enough rehabilitation clinics of its own to meet this need. Private facilities were only available in isolated cases. At the suggestion of LVA President Hermann Langlotz , the board decided to purchase the Kurhotel Schmuck in the center of Bad Münster am Stein. After the purchase contract was signed on October 24, 1951, the conversion to a clinic began. This also marked the start of the LVA's new construction and renovation program in the clinics and at the administrative locations. In 1979 an extension was added.

In the following years it became increasingly clear that the structural and spatial situation of the clinic no longer met the requirements. “Economic aspects spoke in favor of a new house and not for the renovation of the old building.” In addition, the range of services offered by the clinic grew with orthopedics as a further indication. Therefore, in 1992 the LVA board of directors decided to build a new building outside the town center and sold the previous building in February 2000 to a private clinic operator, who subsequently sold it on.

The new building of today's Drei-Burgen-Klinik was built on a plot of land on a mountain slope and was moved into in November 1999 after three years of construction. In December 2016, work began on an extension, which was inaugurated on December 6, 2019 and handed over to its intended purpose.

Treatment spectrum

The Drei-Burgen-Klinik focuses on rehabilitation for cardiovascular and orthopedic diseases. She also carries out follow-up rehabilitation that is required immediately after hospital treatment or an outpatient operation; mostly after bypass or valve operations or in orthopedics after operations on the spine or joint replacement. The range of therapies also includes a program for patients with metabolic syndrome , interdisciplinary pain therapy in orthopedic rehabilitation (ISOR) for chronic back ailments and medical-occupationally oriented rehabilitation (MBOR). Typical work processes are simulated here and ergonomic movement patterns are practiced. In addition, various aftercare and prevention services are part of the clinic's range of services.
