location

The Three Brothers are located 840  m above sea level near Meierhof , a district of Weißenstadt in the state forest between the Schneeberg mountains in the southwest and Rudolfstein in the northeast. The hiking trail Höhenweg of the Fichtelgebirgsverein leads past the rocks, which are protected as a natural monument.

description

The Drei-Brüder-Felsen on Rudolfstein are three mighty granite rocks standing next to each other in the Hohe Fichtelgebirge . They were created in the New Earth Age through weathering and erosion. Due to the horizontal fracturing of the granite rock, the characteristic forms of mattress weathering have emerged in an impressive way .

Geotope

The rocks are designated by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU) as a geoscientifically valuable geotope (geotope number: 479R020) and natural monument . It was also awarded the official seal of approval for Bavaria's most beautiful geotopes by the LfU .

legend

According to a legend , the rocks are about three petrified noble brothers who were petrified by an evil spirit while fleeing from robber barons.
