The first joint work was done in 1991; At the same time Dreier and Hanousek pursued their own artistic work until 1997. In 1997 the GfBH - Association for BildErHalt was founded . Since then, only joint works have been created, summarized under the term upheavals . These deal with structural change, instability, seduction, freedom / lack of freedom, surveillance, flight, placelessness. This is made clear by the combination of different image systems (painting, photography, written language).

Paintings since 2011, called territories , are a collective term for abstract landscapes ( desolate landscapes ). Globalized worldviews and disintegrating systems reveal themselves in fragments. This is how kaleidoscopic spaces are formed that appear labyrinthine, swaying, contradictory and offer hardly any refuge or security, not without the idea of utopia.

Creatures , the third subject area, is formally related to the Territories group of works . The protagonists go through various stages in which they can become actors, players, provocateurs, gamblers, but also hybrids and androids.

Inherent in them is "the positive creativity that enables the creation of great works and the aggressive subjugation of the world, which can lead to the exploitation and ultimately to the destruction of the living space" (Angelika Hille-Sandvoss).

Petra Dreier and Michael Hanousek have been looking after / accompanying a painting group of mentally ill people at Diakoniewerk Duisburg GmbH, department of social psychiatry, the MALzeitler since 2004 . For them they organize u. a. Exhibitions and inclusive art projects, also with professional artists.
