The Trinity Chapel in Markt Geiselwind , Lower Franconia, is a small Catholic church. It is on Schlüsselfelder Strasse in the east of the medieval old town. The chapel was built in the same year as its counterpart, the Marienkapelle in the west of the village.

history

The Trinity Chapel was donated in 1723 by the citizen Franz Peter Stöckinger. It was the first building outside the medieval village wall and stood in front of the eastern gate. In 1906 the construction work for the church was passed on to the community. Every year the community marched in procession in front of the chapel on several festivals . It was not until the 1980s that the processions were stopped due to the increasing traffic.

The chapel is classified as a historical monument by the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments .

description

The chapel is a small hall building . It ends with a hipped roof and has a polygonal choir. Between the roof and the structure, a cornice mediates between the two components. The system is illuminated by two small rectangular windows at the height of the choir. The house of God is geosted . A double crucifix is ​​attached above the west portal.
