The Holy Trinity Church ( Russian Церковь Живоначальной Троицы Zerkow Schiwonatschalnoi Troizy abbreviated Троицкая церковь Troitskaya Tserkov ) is a settlement in the Gus-Schelesny ( Ryazan location) Russian Orthodox Church of the Eparchy Kasimov .

history

Construction of the Trinity Church in Gus-Schelesny began in 1802 on behalf of the steel manufacturer Andrei Bataschow (1724–1799) and lasted, with a break from 1825 to 1847, until 1868. The architect is unknown; In the archive there is a mention that “the church was built by a well-known architect”. Possibly it was Vasily Bashenov . In the course of the construction several votive altars were consecrated - in honor of St. Nicholas of Myra (1816), St. Peter and Paul (1818), and the birth of Christ (1823). The main altar was consecrated in honor of the Trinity in 1868, the year it was completed .

At the beginning of Soviet rule, the church was looted in 1921 and closed for services in 1932. In 1948 it was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church.

architecture

The architecture of the Holy Trinity Church combines features of Classicism , Baroque and Gothic , and has no analogy in Russian church architecture.

The height of the church is 55 meters, that of the bell tower is 70 meters. The church can accommodate 1200 people.
