History and architecture

The memorial plaque from 1899 on the inside on the side of the altar shows that the church was built at the time of the Serbian King Aleksandar (Obrenović) .

The church was built according to the design of the architect Dušan Živanović from 1887, in the Hansenatic (Neo-Byzantine) style with the dimensions 14 × 10 m. It bears a certain resemblance to the Cathedral of St. George in Kruševac . The village priest Jeremije Rašić had a great influence on the construction of the church . All the villagers were involved in the construction of the church, especially Milenko Pavlović and Jevrem Popović.

The church was inaugurated on May 16, 1893 by the then bishop of the eparchy Timok Melentije (Vujić), with the assistance of Jeremije Rašić and in the presence of the mayor Petar Pavlović.

The plan of the church is a Greek cross with a large round dome over the intersection of the side arms of the nave and an altar - apse on the east side. There is a high, free-standing church tower next to the church. Above the west entrance of the church there is an icon of the Holy Trinity.

The iconostasis , icons and frescoes in the style of classicism created consisting of Knjaževac native painter Milisav Markovic. The wooden iconostasis has been painted over to imitate various types of marble .
