Vražogrnac ( Serbian Cyrillic : Вражогрнац) is a village in eastern Serbia .

Geography and population

The village is located in the Opština Zaječar , in the Okrug Zaječar in the Timočka Krajina , in the east of the country. The place is 111 m above sea level and is not far from the Serbian border with Bulgaria . The place is on the banks of the Borska reka . The village is also not far from the Timok . Vražogrnac is located 8 km from the center of the municipal capital Zaječar .

Vražogrnac had a population of 1,090 inhabitants at the 2011 census, compared to 1,340 inhabitants in 2002. According to the last three population statistics, the number of inhabitants continues to fall.

97% of the population of Vražogrnac are Serbian Orthodox Serbs . There are also members of the following ethnic groups living in the village: 16 Wallachians , 3 Macedonians and one Yugoslav , Romanian , Bulgarian and Roma each . The village consists of 469 households.

history

Vražogrnac is mentioned in documents from the 15th century . The village is Serbian with long-established Serbs from this region and with newcomers from Kosovo and old Serbia who came to Vražogrnac in the 16th and 17th centuries.

Residents from the communities and places Pirot , Kalna , Babušnica and Crna Trava also moved to the village in the 1960s. Vražogrnac is one of the old Serbian villages in the region.

The Serbian Orthodox Trinity Church , built from 1887 to 1893, stands in the center of the village . The church belongs to the deanery Zaječar, the Timok Eparchy of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
