Driven by Entropy is a Hessian Djent band from Rodgau , which was founded in 2009.

history

The band was founded by the two guitarists Volker Bach and Kai Bender, bassist Niko Mangelmann and drummer Tobias Krick after their previous band Forensic Alliance broke up at the end of 2009. Tomas Mrvos joined the cast as the singer. After the band had developed some songs, a first demo followed in mid-February 2010. Shortly afterwards, the band held their first appearances. In the same year, drummer Krick left the band and was replaced by Mike Borger. A little later, bass player Mangelmann left the group, who was followed shortly after by Borger in early 2013. After bassist Thomas Winterscheid and drummer Jörg Wackernagel joined the band, the self-titled debut album followed at the end of May 2013 via Ampire Records .

style

The band is one of the representatives of the Djent movement, so "the genre-usual, lower-pitched ( staccato ) guitars, shifted rhythms and a murderous groove level" are characteristic. In contrast to bands of the same genre like TesseracT , Uneven Structure and Disperse , you don’t rely on “dreamy soundscapes” because the songs are far more aggressive. The songs also sound strongly influenced by Meshuggah , whereby the vocals are reminiscent of Fear Factory singer Burton C. Bell. The songs are interspersed with solos . The singing alternates between guttural and clear singing .
