Dromococcyx is a genus of the subfamily of neomorphinae in the family of cuckoos .

Distribution and characteristics

Representatives of the genus Dromococcyx live in forested areas in the Neotropics . The plumage is colored brown. The wide tail feathers and the cover plumage, which extends to the tips of the tail plumage, are striking . Both types also have a hood . The cuckoos mostly move on the ground, which is also referred to by the name Dromococcyx , which is composed of the Greek words for run ( dromos ) and cuckoo ( kokyx ). Both species are breeding parasites .

Systematics

The genus includes two types. The sister taxon is the genus Tapera . The German names follow Avibase.
