Dru Lavigne

Dru Lavigne (* 20th century) is a network and system administrator, IT trainer and author of numerous IT-related publications. She also works for several organizations in the BSD area.

She has been using FreeBSD since 1997 and has written several BSD books. She has more than a decade of experience in administering and training NetWare , Microsoft , Cisco , Check-Point , SCO , Solaris , Linux and BSD systems.

Working life

She was the founder and from 2007 to 2010 Editor-in-Chief of Open Source Business Resource (OSBR), a free, monthly publication that dealt with topics related to open source and the commercialization of open source and which is now in Technology Innovation Management Review worked .

She is the founder and, since 2005, chairwoman of the BSD Certification Group Inc., a non-profit organization for the development and administration of a standard for the certification of BSD system administrators.

Since January 22, 2013 she has been a member of the doc committer group of the FreeBSD project.

Lavigne has been a director of the FreeBSD Foundation since 2009 . Since 2010 she has been a community manager and author of documentation at iXsystems .

She can often be found in person at a BSDCon . BSDCons are BSD conferences, several of which take place each year in different parts of the world.

Publications

As a writer, Lavigne has written for O'Reilly , TechRepublic, DNSStuff, and OpenLogic.

She co-wrote Linux Hacks and Hacking Linux Exposed and is the author of BSD Hacks and The Best of FreeBSD Basics . Her third and most recent book, The Definitive Guide to PC-BSD , was published in March 2010.

Lavigne wrote the widely read A Year in the Life of a BSD Guru blog on Toolbox.com.

As part of her work at iXsystems, she is involved in the documentation of the PC-BSD project and the FreeNAS project. According to her own statement, she writes about as much for these projects per year as for three 300-page books.
