Postpress at the Konstanz printing company

The printing Konstanz GmbH is one of the largest printing houses in Baden-Wuerttemberg . In addition to the Südkurier , customer newspapers , trade fair newspapers , magazines and advertising supplements are printed here.

history

The company Druckerei am Fischmarkt belonged to the Reuss & Itta publishing house in 1927, which published the Konstanzer Zeitung . At that time, the company was still based at the fish market in the city center of Konstanz, which is why today's company logo still depicts two interlocking fish. In 1945, after the Second World War , the print shop was acquired by Südkurier GmbH. Initially, one issue per week was printed in the newspaper printer at the Fischmarkt.

In 1974 the name Druckerei am Fischmarkt was changed to Druckerei und Verlagsanstalt Konstanz GmbH after official confirmation .

In 1989, in order to remain economically viable, the printing company decided to build a new printing center in the Konstanz industrial area. When the new printing center went into operation in 1990, the company's name was changed to Druckerei Konstanz GmbH . In the same year, the Südkurier Medienhaus group of companies was fully integrated into the Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group , which in 2011 sold the majority (51%) to the Pressedruck media group from Augsburg.

Companies

The new KBA Express printing press was inaugurated at the new company headquarters. It printed continuously for 20 years until it was replaced in 2010 by a new KBA Cortina printing press from Koenig & Bauer . The print processing is performed with Mailroom lines of FERAG .

Over 120 million newspapers and newspaper-like publications are currently printed in the Konstanz printing plant each year and 11,000 tons of paper are used. The publications are delivered by partner companies such as "Direkt Kurier Liefer GmbH" and "PSG". Mail deliveries are handled by arriva .

Environmental commitment

In the Konstanz GmbH printing company, environmentally friendly recycled paper is used. The KBA Cortina printing press works largely without chemicals, saves 15% energy and 430,000 liters of water in production every year.

At the end of October 2013, a modern combined heat and power plant was put into operation. The company thus uses the principle of combined heat and power (CHP): both the electricity and the waste heat generated are used. Other advantages of the block-type thermal power station are, in addition to lower energy loss, lower emissions and the relief of the electrical network.
