history
Settlers from Ireland settled in the area around 1850 . Since the surroundings were flat and the soil was fertile, the cultivation and sale of potatoes became the main livelihood for the residents. This has remained the case to this day. The motto of the place also refers to the potato plant and is Vivat, Floreat, Crescat , which means "May it live, grow and prosper". The potato plant is also shown in the center of the town's coat of arms.
The name of the place was chosen around 1860 in honor of Gordon Drummond , the British officer and colonial administrator in Canada. After 1870, many settlers from France also settled in Drummond, whose descendants now make up the majority of the population. In 1911 the Canadian National Railway Bridge was built, spanning the Salmon River at a height of 65 meters and sustainably improving the local infrastructure.
In 1967 the place received the status of Village .
