The Jamantoo ( Kyrgyz Жаман-Тоо ; Russian Джамантау ) is a mountain range of the Inner Tienschan in Kyrgyzstan .
The 70 km long mountain range is located northwest of Lake Tschatyrköl . The Arpa , the headwaters of the Alabuga, flows along the southern flank . In the southwest, the Jamantoo borders the southern part of the Ferghana Mountains . In the Karamoinok , the highest point, the Jamantoo reaches a height of 4121 m . The mountain range consists mainly of sedimentary and metamorphic rocks . The Jamantoo drops steeply to the south to the Arpa river valley. The northern slopes, on the other hand, have a slight gradient. The mountains are characterized by sparse steppe vegetation .
