Dschemal Georgievich Silagadze ( Russian Джемал Георгиевич Силагадзе ; born April 23, 1948 in Sochi , † May 13, 1991 in Pskov ) was a Soviet football player and coach.

life and career

Jemal Silagadze was born in 1948 in Sochi in southern Russia on the Black Sea . He played for his hometown club Stroitel Sochi until 1964, but was then signed by Spartak Kostroma , where he stayed until 1967.

Then the Soviet record champions Spartak Moscow became aware of Silagadze and signed him for the 1968 season. He had his most successful time with the Muscovites, in 1969 he was Soviet champion and in 1971 he won the Soviet cup with his team . In 1972 he moved to Torpedo Kutaisi , who were then playing in the Pervaya League , the second Soviet league. After only one year he returned to Spartak Moscow in the Wysschaja Liga , but was mainly a reserve player and came in the entire season on only nine appearances in the league. Then Silagadze went back to Spartak Kostroma the following year, where he had already played between 1965 and 1967. After only one season he left this club and moved to Iskra Smolensk in the third division, the Wtoraja League . He stayed there until 1981 and then ended his active career.

As a coach, Silagadze took over his old club Iskra Smolensk in 1981, but left it again after a short time. From 1986 to 1987 he was in charge of FK Metallurg Lipetsk , and in 1988 he was coach at Baltika Kaliningrad . In 1989 he took over the coaching position at Elektrotechnika Saransk , before he was committed again in 1990 by Iskra Smolensk. In 1991, while still working as a coach at Smolensk, he died in a traffic accident.
