The story begins with a night break-in by the two Yasin brothers Khalil and Amir, along with a friend of Amir's named Marat. The impoverished brothers from Srebrenica live illegally in a run-down basement apartment, as Amir is to be deported due to several crimes committed. In addition, the parents moved back to Bosnia . The 16-year-old Khalil continues to go to school with his girlfriend Angie and boyfriend Vitaly, but because of his negligent behavior he is targeted by the school management, who ultimately also expels him from school due to his frequent absences. Amir's influence lures him into watching violent videos and hate speech and exposing himself to international terrorists.

When Khalil's life continues to turn negative and the family of Khalil's best friend Vitaly is deported , he understands his brother, who propagates jihad and the fight against the hypocritical West, and joins the terrorists. So he gets more and more involved in their plans. Khalil is said to have blown up a Predator factory using a car bomb . Khalil ultimately does not carry out the assignment because he becomes aware of his actions. He is picked up by the FBI and finally helps to solve the case and to catch the mastermind behind the attack, Ruslan. Although Khalil is not being prosecuted, he has to leave the United States permanently.
