I want to go to school too

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I also want to go to school ( Swedish Jag vill också gå i skolan ) is a book by Astrid Lindgren . It continues the story of the two siblings Peter and Lena from the book I also want siblings .

action

Since his little sister Lena really wants to go to school one day, Peter takes her with him one day. Peter shows her the way to school and explains where Lena should be particularly careful. Then Lena gets to know everyday school life. She is allowed to sit in the chair of Lisa, who is sick that day and cannot come to school. Lena watches Peter arithmetic and writing. During the break, Lena and Peter play in the school yard. When Peter's classmate tells Pelle that he thinks it's stupid to take small children to school, Pelle and Peter fight each other hard. Lena is scared but doesn't want to show it, so she is happy when the school bell rings and it goes to biology class. Here Lena can even contribute something to the lesson, because she realizes that the bird that the teacher shows the students is a chaffinch. Lena also accompanies Peter at breakfast in the dining room, doing gymnastics and reading. After all, Pelle no longer seems to have anything against small children in school. When Lena and Peter are at home in the evening, Lena is happy to finally know exactly how it is at Peter's school.

The Reading Foundation believes the book is ideal for the school cone. It is good for reading aloud and later for reading it yourself.

Kirkus Rewievs finds the illustrations by Ilon Wikland more memorable than the text by Astrid Lindgren. The crowded, colorful illustrations are entertaining and rich in detail.
