from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Good night, Mr. Tramp! ( Swedish Godnatt, mr luffare! ) is a story by Astrid Lindgren .

action

On the Sunday before Christmas, Anna, Inga-Stina and Sven's parents have to go to a funeral. The children should stay at home alone. Therefore the mother admonishes her to keep the door closed and never to let a tramp inside. Then the parents leave the house. Sven has to go out again briefly and then forgets to move the bolt in front of the door again. When there was a knock at the door a little later, he said automatically Come in , but it wasn't his parents who came in, a tramp. Inga-Sina is scared and weeps. Then the tramp sees that the children have glossy paper on the table to cut cups for the Christmas tree. He takes one of the glossy papers and folds a beautiful star out of it. The children are thrilled. From then on, the tramp entertains the children with magic tricks, acting and singing for them. Then he says that he is hungry and has dinner with the children. After he has eaten, the tramp says goodbye to the children. He says that if there are two Thursdays in a week he will come back.

Then time goes by very quickly. It will soon be Christmas Eve. When Anna and Sven look out of the window into the snow, they wonder where the tramp is now. Sven thinks about it for a moment and then says that the tramp might be in the church game Locknevi.
