Sammelaugust and other children ( Swedish Kajsa Kavat ) is a book by Astrid Lindgren . It is a collection of fairy tales that was first published in Sweden in 1950 by Rabén & Sjögren . A German publication by Oetinger Verlag took place in 1952.

The book was first published in Sweden in 1950 under the title Kajsa Kavat by Rabén & Sjögren . In Germany, the book with the title Sammelaugust and other children was published in 1952 by Oetinger Verlag. Karl Kurt Peters translated the book from Swedish into German. The book was illustrated by Ilon Wikland . In Sweden, the first edition was illustrated by Ingrid Vang Nyman .
In Sweden, all stories except Big Sister, Little Brother were published in audio book versions. The stories were read by Astrid Lindgren.
The stories Polly helps the grandmother , When Adam Engelbrecht got really angry and Pelle moves out of the fairy tale collection, they were also published individually as picture books in Germany. Märit also appeared as a novella in Sweden. All the stories were later published in other books, such as Stories and Fairy Tales , Astrid Lindgren Told , etc.
In the Swedish amusement park Astrid Lindgrens värld , scenes from the book can be found that were recreated for the amusement park.
Film adaptations
Some of the stories were filmed in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The films were produced by Waldemar Bergendahl and Ingrid Dalunde . Directed by Daniel Bergman , Magnus Nanne , Staffan Götestam and Johanna Hald .
