Staffan Götestam
Staffan Götestam (born May 20, 1952 in Örnsköldsvik ) is a Swedish actor , director , playwright , theater manager and composer .
Career
Staffan Götestam went to theater school in 1973. After his training he got a role in the musical Godspell (1974), which was performed at the Jarlateatern in Stockholm.
In 1977 he became known for his portrayal of Jonathan the Lionheart in the film The Lionheart Brothers . While working on this film, he met Astrid Lindgren , with whom he would work a lot in the years to come. He staged and directed some of her works as plays. He also directed Astrid Lindgren's short films Goldi and Nils Karlsson Däumling .
In the late 1970s, Götestam started working mainly behind the scenes as a director, screenwriter or producer.
In 1996 he founded the Swedish children's museum Junibacken . The museum is particularly dedicated to Astrid Lindgren 's children's literature . The museum also deals with other famous characters such as Pettson and Findus . Götestam is still working at the museum in mid-2020.
Together with his daughter Josefine Götestam, he produced radio plays on well-known children's fairy tales such as Cinderella and The Little Mermaid in 2017 .
In 2019 Götestam directed the play Happy Ending , for which he also wrote the script.
Private life
Götestam is married and has four children. He lives in Östermalm .
