Dušan Martinček

Dušan Martinček (born June 19, 1936 in Presov ; † August 30, 2006 in Bratislava ) was a Slovak composer, pianist and music teacher.

Martinček studied piano with Anna Kafendová at the Bratislava Conservatory and also took private lessons in music theory and composition with Alexander Albrecht , Ján Cikker and Ján Zimmer . From 1956 to 1961 he continued his education at the University of Music in Bratislava with Rudolf Macudzinski (piano) and Ján Cikker (composition). From 1973 he taught music theory and composition at the University of Trnava and from 1973 to 1986 - for the last four years as a professor - at the Academy of Performing Arts. From 1986 he lived as a freelance composer. In addition to piano works and chamber music, Martinček composed several symphonic works
