Dušan Zrnić

Dušan S. Zrnić (born June 3, 1942 in Belgrade , Yugoslavia ) is a Yugoslav natural scientist. He is a senior scientist in the Earth Radar and Remote Sensing Group at the National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL) in Norman, Oklahoma. He is an adjunct professor of meteorology and electrical engineering at the University of Oklahoma .

He studied at the University of Belgrade and graduated in 1965 with a degree in electrical engineering. He received a Master of Science degree from the University of Illinois ( Urbana ) and received his doctorate in electrical engineering in 1969. After a position as a research fellow at the Charged Particle Research Laboratory at the University of Illinois, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at California State University , Northridge , California in 1969 . In 1974 he became an associate professor and in 1978 a professor.

Zrnić published many publications on weather radar, radar signal processing and radar remote sensing. His main work Doppler Radar and Weather Observations , which was created in 1984 in collaboration with Richard J. Doviak, became a standard work in radar meteorology. In 1990 he published the theoretical basis for a polarimetric radar . He holds four patents in the field of weather radar.
