Duca d'Aosta class

The Duca d'Aosta class was a class of light cruisers in the Italian Navy . The class consisted of two ships built in Livorno and Genoa in the mid-1930s :

These two ships, which were put into service in 1936, represented a significant improvement on the first three Condottieri classes . They were characterized by their high speed, with the armor of the Montecuccoli and Aosta classes being particularly significant compared to the two previous classes has been improved. This trend was continued with the following Duca degli Abruzzi class .

RN Emanuele Filiberto Duca d'Aosta

Laid down on October 29, 1932, launched April 22, 1934, commissioned July 13, 1935. It took part in all major skirmishes and naval battles in the Mediterranean during World War II. From September 1943, the cruiser operated with the allied allies in the South Atlantic. After the war, the Soviet Union took it over under the name Stalingrad and then Kerch as a reparation payment. Decommissioned February 20, 1959.

RN Eugenio di Savoia

Named after Prince Eugene of Savoy . Laid down on July 6, 1933, launched on June 16, 1935, commissioned on January 16, 1936. It took part in all major skirmishes and naval battles in the Mediterranean during World War II. After the war it was taken over by Greece as a reparation payment under the name Elli . Decommissioned in 1973.
