Dudley Dorival

Dudley Dorival (born September 1, 1975 in Elizabeth , New Jersey ) is a Haitian athlete and Olympian.

In 1994 Dorival won the silver medal for the USA at the Junior World Championships in the 110-meter hurdles . In the years that followed, it grew steadily, but faced with competition in the United States, it was unable to qualify for major international events.

In July 1999 he became a national of Haiti, the state his parents were from.

Dudley Dorival finished 7th in the 2000 Olympic Games in the 110-meter hurdles , the first final ranking of a Haitian in athletics since 1928. At the 2004 Olympic Games , he made it to the semi-finals.

At the World Indoor Championships in 2001 , he finished 7th over 60 meter hurdles.

His big moment came at the 2001 World Championships when he won the bronze medal behind Allen Johnson (USA) and Anier García (Cuba) with his personal best of 13.25 seconds. This was Haiti's first ever world championship medal in athletics since Silvio Cator won silver in the long jump at the 1928 Summer Olympics .

At the World Championships in Paris in 2003 , in Helsinki in 2005 and in Osaka in 2007 , he failed in the semi-finals as in 1999 in Seville .

At a height of 1.85 m, his competition weight is 77 kg.
