Dugdamme

Dugdamme ( ancient Greek Λύγδαμις ) was a king of the Cimmerians who lived around the middle of the 7th century BC. BC invaded Asia Minor and Assyria . It is identical to the Lygdamis mentioned by Herodotus , Strabo and other Greek authors.

Around 650 BC Chr. Were the Cimmerians with Trerern in Asia Minor and attacked the kingdom of the Lydians to why the Lydian King Gyges , mentioned in Assyrian documents GUGGU of Luddu, the Assyrian king Ashurbanipal asked for help. Dugdamme allied himself with the king of Tabal against the Assyrian king Ashurbanipal, but this alliance only lasted a short time. When Dugdamme invaded Assyria, he fell ill and died around 640 BC. His son Sandakurru (or Sandakšatru) was soon defeated by the Assyrians.
