Dumitru Antonescu (born March 25, 1945 in Constanța ; † April 25, 2016 ) was a Romanian football player and coach . The defender denied 390 games in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A .

Career

The son of a bowling sportsperson spent his childhood in his hometown Constanța. After his youth at Electrica Constanța, he completed his military service in the capital Bucharest from 1965 to 1966 . There he belonged to the squad of the second team of Steaua Bucharest and was not used in the first team. In 1966 he returned to Constanta to Electrica back and joined on 10 January 1967 Farul Constanta to that at the time the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A belonged. On February 15, 1967 he came there under coach Virgil Mărdărescu for his first use.

Antonescu played his entire career for Farul he after relegation at the end of the 1977-78 season in the Divizia B accompanied. After rising again in 1981, he stayed with the club for two years before he ended his career after relegation at the end of the 1982/83 season. He then took over the training of the team for two years, after which he became a coach at a club from the Călărași district . In 2013 Antonescu worked as a youth coach at Farul Constanța to supplement his pension.

National team

Antonescu played 13 games for the Romanian national soccer team , but scored no goal. He made his debut on October 29, 1972 in the World Cup qualifier against Albania . The last time he ran on October 13, 1974 in the European Championship qualifier against Denmark in the national jersey.
