Dumitru Mirea

Dumitru Mirea (* 1868 in Câmpulung ; † 1942 ) was a Romanian sculptor who was buried in the Bellu Cemetery in Bucharest .

Life

Mirea was one of twelve children of a priest. He studied in Bucharest , Munich and later at the Académie Julian in Paris . In 1900 he received a bronze medal at the World Exhibition in Paris . The Muzeul Național de Artă al României in Bucharest keeps some of his works . His older brother was the portrait painter George Demetrescu Mirea (1852–1934). Mirea was married to Lucia (1881–1955).
