Dun Karm Psaila (born October 18, 1871 in Żebbuġ , † October 13, 1961 in Valletta ) was a Maltese writer, poet and priest.

He was born to ordinary people and began writing poetry in Italian at the age of 18 . He received his training at the seminary in Mdina . He was ordained a priest at the age of 23. In addition to his priesthood, he continued to write poetry, increasingly in Malti , his mother tongue. His first novel "Il-Ħabib" (The Friend) was published in 1912. After that, Psaila decided to only write in Maltese. His poems and prose pieces soon became very popular under the pseudonym DUN KARM (Dun is the title for priest). They combine national romantic, existential philosophy and religious themes. His visionary expressiveness meets the desire of the Maltese people for cultural independence and national identity. He died in 1961, and DUN KARM is known today as "il-Poeta Malti", the Maltese national poet. One of his poems is the text of Malta's national anthem L-Innu Malti .
