Original text

Lil din l-Art ħelwa, l-Omm li tatna isimha,
Ħares, Mulejkif dejjem Int ħarist:
Ftakar li lilha bl-oħla dawl libbist.

Agħti, kbir Alla, id-dehen lil min jaħkimha,
Rodd il-ħniena lis-sid, saħħa 'l-ħaddiem:
Seddaq il-għaqda fil-Maltin u s-sliem.

translation

Poetic translation of the English version, which only approximates the Maltese text and does not translate verse by verse:

Protect it, O Lord, as you have always protected it,
this motherland, this good one, whose name we bear!
Keep in mind that you created
so beautifully!

May he who rules be
respected for his wisdom.
Under the grace of the Lord strength grow in man.
Strengthen us all in unity and peace!
