Ons Heemecht (“Our Home”) has been the national anthem of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg since 1993 .

The text is by Michel Lentz (1859), the melody by Johann-Anton Zinnen (1864). The original language is Luxembourgish , which at the time the text was written in the 19th century still had the status of a dialect, but was standardized in the 20th century and expanded to become the official language. In German and French, although both are also official languages, only official translations exist, as are several other languages.

The hymn was first sung in public on June 5, 1864 at an event organized by the Luxembourg General Music Association on Place Marie-Therèse in Ettelbrück .

While the law on the national badges of Luxembourg of June 23, 1972 did not specify anything about the national anthem, the supplementary law of July 27, 1993 stipulated that the first and last stanzas of Ons Heemecht (stanzas 1 and 4) should be the national anthem of Luxembourg serve.
