Duncan Dokiwari (born October 15, 1973 in Port Harcourt ) is a Nigerian boxer .

Amateur career

Dokiwari won 55 fights (46 KOs) as an amateur with five defeats. In 1994 he won the super heavyweight division of the Commonwealth Games in Victoria . He defeated, among others, Danny Williams on points.

After winning the African Games in 1995 , he took part in the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta . With premature victories in each of the first three tournament rounds, he qualified for the semi-finals against Paea Wolfgramm , who won this encounter with 7: 6 points. Dokiwari received the bronze medal for third place.

Professional career

In 1997 Dokiwari began his professional career in the USA . After twelve victories against opponents who were built up , he met the still unbeaten Fres Oquendo on January 16, 1999 . Dokiwari lost this fight over six rounds on points: his first defeat in professional business.

He then managed a series of ten wins until he met the also undefeated Dominick Guinn on September 26, 2003 , against whom he suffered his second defeat over ten rounds. In the next fight - against the rather unknown Stacy Frazier - he lost again, but this time through a technical knockout in the first round. After this last, surprising defeat, Dokiwari took a two-year break from boxing and only returned to the ring in 2006. He got three short knockout wins this year before ending his career.
