Dunte (German: Dunteshof ) is a place in Latvia , on the Riga Bay north of Riga .
Geographical location
The place is located in Vidzeme on the Riga Bay between Saulkrasti and Salacgrīva on the A1 about 60 km north of Riga. It is part of the Liepupe municipality .
history
The place emerged around the former Ruthern estate (Lat .: Duntes muiža) of the Livonian noble family von Dunten , from which Jacobine von Dunten emerged. In 1744 she married Baron Münchhausen in the church in Pernigel (today: Liepupe) . She lived here with him until 1750. Some of his adventurous stories date from this time. In 1750 they moved to his estate in Bodenwerder , where Jacobine died in 1790.
