Strikethrough target sign
A crossed-out destination sign was a special form of passenger information in which the destination sign of a local public transport system was crossed out or highlighted with a diagonal bar in contrasting colors . As a result, the respective transport company conveyed certain additional information to the passengers waiting at the stops - similar to the line number that was crossed out - that went beyond the text on the sign. In detail, however, the strikethrough had very different meanings:
- The Berlin S-Bahn provided the objective signs of the existing 1,953 to 1,958 so-called completers trains with a continuous red diagonal stripes at the train groups 1 and 3 and a continuous blue diagonal stripes in the traction group L. These accelerated trains in rush hours did not stop at intermediate stations on West Berlin area.
- On the Magdeburg tram and the Munich tram , a destination sign crossed out with a red bar meant that the car served the respective main station .
- The tram Chemnitz marked to 2004 different line objectives, that is Einrückfahrten the depot and diversions, with a green slash in the target plate.
- On the Bad Homburg tram in front of the Höhe , a colored slash through the destination sign was used to represent the respective line identification color. Here green stood for Saalburg , blue for Kirdorf , red for Gothic House and yellow for Dornholzhausen .
- On the Athens metro, red crossed-out destination signs used to indicate short journeys that only drove to an intermediate terminus.
- The former Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) used this type of signaling for rail buses . She marked her express buses, which were in rush hour traffic between Ravensburg and Weingarten from 1959 , with a red slash in the signs.
- In Budapest Bus traffic a light brown diagonal bar served until September 2008 to those lines to identify which crossed the city limits. This should inform the passengers of the correspondingly higher on-site tariff.
- In Viennese bus traffic , a green diagonal line on the route table indicated the increased tariff in inner-city bus traffic.
