history

Founded in 1929 by the brothers Julius and Gilbert Durst, the company was the first to repair photo equipment. From 1930 it produced enlargers and copying machines. In 1933 Durst became a stock corporation with the participation of the Oberrauch merchant family from Bolzano. The machines of the 1930s were mainly used to produce postcards . From the 1940s, Durst was one of the pioneers of photo technology (enlargers and cameras).

In 1976 Durst UK Ltd. founded in Epsom ( Great Britain ). From 1981, Durst AG increasingly relied on digital photo technology and, since 1994, on the digital market for photo technology in the professional sector. The company developed the first Lambda laser image setter for the exposure of photo paper on a digital basis and has achieved market leadership in this area thanks to its extensive sales network. More than 1000 devices are currently in use - from the exposure of large format advertising, ground surveying to satellite data to medical technology. The majority owner of Durst AG Christof Oberrauch was also President of the South Tyrol Business Association from 2007 to 2010.

In 1999 a second plant was built in Lienz ( East Tyrol ), in 2005 its production area was doubled (around 5000 m²) and a technical academy was set up for training on inkjet printers. Durst Digital Technology - the company name of the Lienz plant - concentrated on the production of flatbed printers of the RHO brand. In 2004, Durst introduced "white printing" based on UV ink, and in 2005 developed its own "Quadro" nozzle head array. In 2005 Durst AG opened a branch in Mexico .

On May 31, 2006 in Singapore with the Durst Image Technology (Asia) PTY founded in the seventh daughter of Durst AG. According to Durst AG, the 24-hour service network is fully operational. In addition, the Southeast Asian market has recently seen strong growth in both purchasing and sales.

Products

Durst AG produces industrial printers on an inkjet basis for decor printing ceramic tiles - Gamma - (using ceramic inks that are burned in at 1150 ° C) and - RHO SP - for decor printing MDF boards with and without a veneer surface using special UV -hardening ink as well as optical devices based on laser and LED for professional image reproduction on photo paper. The devices are sold in over 100 countries. Large-format inkjet printers of the RHO brand are produced with UV ink or water-based inks in the Brixen and Lienz works .
