Dyclonin is a local anesthetic that can be used to anesthetize mucous membranes before medical examinations and procedures. It is also found in lozenges and sprays for the throat and pharynx. Dyclonin can also be used to suppress the gag reflex .
Manufacturing
Dyclonin is produced from 4-butoxy acetophenone , paraformaldehyde and piperidine hydrochloride by the Mannich reaction .
