Philipp Hiba (born December 1, 1989 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian soccer player .

Club career

Hiba started playing football at the age of five in the youth department of First Vienna FC . In the following years he went through all the youth teams of the traditional club before he was ordered from the U-17 team to the A team of Vienna at the age of 16 by the then coach Franz Weiss. Previously, at the age of 15, he was allowed to sniff a half-time in the combat team in a test match. At that time he was considered a huge talent with all the facilities to be a professional player.

On August 4, 2006, he made his debut for the senior team in a 3-2 draw against Kremser SC . This was followed by 16 short appearances as a substitute in the Regionalliga Ost, before he was allowed to play in the starting lineup in the 0: 5 against SC Zwettl on the last day of the 2006/07 season . In this game he also managed his only goal win this season.

As a result, rumors arose about the player's dissatisfaction due to his sparse playing time, and so it was not surprising when he moved to the youth department of FC Twente Enschede in July 2007 for training compensation between 20,000 and 30,000 euros . Before that, he had contested and complied with two trial training sessions and a youth tournament for Enschede. The change caused great incomprehension among the Vienna fans, as Hiba was considered the Döblinger's greatest hope for young people up to this point .

But Hiba was not happy in Enschede. He stayed just under three months before leaving the club in a night and fog. In January 2008, he then signed a contract with the then Bundesliga club SCR Altach . The change even caused a sensation in the Austrian press, as Hiba previously stated in an interview that he had left Enschede due to being homesick. Since Altach is now in Vorarlberg and therefore also far away from his hometown Vienna , his motives for leaving Enschede have been questioned. Before the contract was signed at Altach, the old Vienna official Ferdinand Janotka intervened to persuade the player either to stay in Enschede or, if so, to return to Vienna.

But the Altach station also went anything but ideal for Hiba. He had major adjustment problems and was not used in the professional team in the second half of the 2007/08 season. In March 2008 Altach announced the amicable termination of the contract with Hiba. Official reasons were various adjustment problems. His still young career was already at a crossroads.

Then Hiba went back to Vienna and was without a club until the summer of 2008 before signing a contract with his parent club, Vienna. Under the now coach Peter Stöger , he quickly felt comfortable at his home club and stabilized his performance. At the end of the 2008/09 season he celebrated with the team the championship title in the Regionalliga Ost and the associated promotion to the first division . In the 2009/10 season he then fought for a regular place in a Vienna team that was almost unchanged compared to the year of promotion.

After a disappointing second half for both the club and the players, which included a hair-raising own goal by Hiba in the game against Altach as a negative climax , the Vienna coach / manager duo Stöger / Schöttel announced that there will be some departures during the winter break to reduce the squad . A few days later the Kronen Zeitung published a list of the players to be dropped, on which Hiba also appeared.

As a result, Hiba was loaned to the regional division SC Ostbahn XI for six months .
