The SG Dynamo 1950 Schönberg was a German police sports association from Schönberg (Mecklenburg) , whose football department existed between 1950 and 1962.
Athletic career
SG Dynamo Schönberg was founded in 1950 and quickly established itself in the higher-class football of the Rostock district . Already in 1954 Dynamo rose together with Lokomotive Stralsund in the then third-class Rostock district league , which was held until 1962 with mostly secured midfield positions.
The best placement was achieved by Dynamo in the 1958 season, in which the Schönbergers failed just behind Motor Neptun Rostock on possible promotion to the 2nd GDR League . The greatest success of the Mecklenburgers was their entry into the first main round of the FDGB Cup in 1957 . In the two qualifying rounds, Schönberg prevailed against Traktor Thurow and Traktor Plate , but then lost to the clearly favored GDR upper division Lok Stendal with 2: 3 after extra time. In the following period Dynamo failed in the championship race at Motor Wolgast and Vorwärts Rostock .
For the 1961/62 season, Dynamo Schönberg was reported again for the district league, but the superordinate sports association Dynamo withdrew the team from the now two-part division from the game operation. The football department finally merged with local rival Traktor Schönberg to form TSG Schönberg .
