Dzintars Jaunzems

Dzintars Jaunzems (born November 22, 1966 in Liepāja ) is a former Latvian basketball player .

career

Jaunzems took part in the qualification for the Olympic Games with the Latvian national team in 1992 , in the summer of 1993 he was part of Latvia's squad for the European Championship in Germany and scored 8.7 points per game during the tournament as the third best scorer of his team.

After the European Championship, the 1.95 meter tall winger moved from Princips Riga to SC Rist Wedel in Germany. He led Wedel in 1994 as the undefeated champion of the Regionalliga Nord for promotion to the 2nd basketball division . Until 2001, Jaunzems was Rist Wedel's top performer in the second-highest German division.

Jaunzems was still working in the pharmaceutical industry in Germany during his basketball career.
