The European Information Technology Observatory , EITO for short , is a European initiative. She has published market data on information and communication technology and consumer electronics in Europe since 1993 .

The EITO owes its existence to an initiative by Enore Deotto ( Milan , † 2008) and the support of Luis-Alberto Petit Herrera ( Madrid ), Jörg Schomburg ( Hanover ) and Günther Möller ( Frankfurt am Main ). From 1993 to 2007 the market data was published as a yearbook ( EITO yearbook ) and has been specified by country or market segment via an online portal since 2008.

Bitkom Research GmbH has headed the EITO since 2008 and cooperates with the market research institutes GfK and International Data Corporation . In addition, the EITO Task Force brings in the expertise of EITO partner associations from 11 European countries. The task force consists of 22 ICT market experts appointed by the EITO partner associations and EITO sponsors. Their work is also supported by the European Commission and the OECD.
