ELNA 1 is the designation for a tender type of locomotive for private and industrial railways, according to the standards of the E lengthier L okomotiv- N ormen- A OMMITTEE ( ELNA ) was built. The machine has the axis arrangement C and is designed for light road service.
The only documented example of this rare type is in the exhibition holdings of the Adorf railway depot . Another machine is based on the ELNA 1 design.
WZTE 8 / WZTE 350 / Südzucker 3 / LAG Hof 3
The locomotive was built by Hanomag in Hanover in 1931 and delivered to the Wilstedt-Zeven-Tostedter Eisenbahn (WZTE) as locomotive no.8. In 1949, WZTE renamed the machine as no.350. The new number corresponded to the numbering scheme of the Lower Saxony State Railway Authority .
In 1951 the Zuckerfabrik Franken GmbH, Ochsenfurt / Main acquired the locomotive and designated it as No. 3. In 1964 the locomotive finally came to Südzucker - Süddeutsche Zucker-AG, Regensburg plant and was again listed as No. 3. It was shut down by Südzucker Regensburg in 1971.
The sugar factory sells the unique specimen to a private person from Hof. It was intended as a museum locomotive on the Höllentalbahn in the Franconian Forest , which was planned by the Local Railway Working Group (LAG) Hof. The machine was first parked in the Hof Bahnbetriebswerk . It was an exhibit at the 16th BDEF Association Day from May 31 to June 3, 1973 in Hof. From 1982 the ELNA 1 was back in the engine shed at Marxgrün station . In 1999 she came to the Vogtland Railway Association in Adorf (VEA) at the Adorf depot . It is currently being completely overhauled there (2016/17).
Theag 2 / DR 89 6280 (variant)
Another locomotive is based heavily on the ELNA 1 design. It is the C-coupler built in 1927 at the Hohenzollern locomotive factory with the serial number 4600, which was delivered to the Boizenburg city and port railway . In 1933 she came to Neuhaldensleber railroad as # 2. From 1934, it belonged to the inventory of Osterwieck water Lebener Railway until on August 28, 1940 to the Thuringian railway AG came and (Theag) as no. 2 on the Ruhlaer railway used was . In 1950 the private railway was nationalized. The Deutsche Reichsbahn then ran the machine as 89 6280. On April 15, 1965, the DR decommissioned the locomotive.
