EViews (short for “Econometric Views”) is a commercial, Windows-based econometrics software from the US company IHS . The first version based on Microsoft Windows was implemented in 1994 by Quantitative Micro Software (QMS). The forerunner product was the MicroTSP software. EViews is widely used in research, studies, administration, banks, insurance companies and energy providers.

Areas of application

The main application of the software is the processing of time series . All important methods of time series analysis from simple AR, MA, ARMA , through ARIMA, ARIMAX, ARCH , GARCH to state space models or state space models can be carried out. Both cross-sections and longitudinal data can be presented descriptively and analytically. EViews masters general econometric and statistical analyzes, the generation of forecasts and model simulations, as well as the output of graphs and tables , e.g. B. for publications. EViews enables data organization including database access.

Alternatives

Alternatives to EViews are the commercial products Stata , SAS , RATS or WinRATS and Limdep . Alternative free software includes GNU R and gretl .
