East Lodge

East Lodge is a residential building on the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay . It is on the eastern edge of the extensive grounds of Islay House about 2.5 km east of the town of Bridgend . The A846 runs between Bridgend and Ballygrant just north of the isolated building . On July 20, 1971, East Lodge was added to the Scottish List of Monuments in Category B.

The well-known Scottish architect William Playfair planned and built East Lodge in 1845. The one-story building is kept in traditional Scottish style. Above the ornate building entrance, a plaque with the initials WFC / CIC is embedded in the masonry. The building ends with a slate-covered gable roof with a stepped gable . Various extensions have pent roofs . The access from the A846 is also explicitly listed in the monument lists. It consists of a combination of flat masonry with ornate posts between which a metal fence runs.
