Eastbridge is a village in the English county of Suffolk . It is located about 6.5 km north of Leiston and 3 km away from the North Sea in the Parish of Theberton , just south of the Minsmere RSPB Reserve . It is bordered by the Minsmere River , which runs through a plain of drained and non-drained wetlands known as the Minsmere Level.
The Eastbridge Windpump stands in the middle of this marshland and is preserved by the Museum of East Anglian Life in Stowmarket . There are also ruins of St Mary's medieval chapel on the original site of Leiston Abbey .
The origins of the Eels Foot Inn go back to 1533. The current structure - mostly from 1642 - was a popular tavern for dragoons and smugglers in the 18th century .
