Leiston is a city and a municipality in District East Suffolk in the county of Suffolk , England . Leiston is 20 miles from Ipswich . In 2011 it had a population of 5508. Leiston was mentioned in 1086 in the Domesday Book as Le (d) estuna / Lenestuna / Leisestuna / Leestuna . Since the town of Sizewell also belongs to the municipality, the Town Council operates under the name Leiston cum Sizewell .
