Eberhard K. Volger

Eberhard Kaspar Volger (born February 18, 1943 in Breslau ) is a German cardiologist. He is the scientific director of the medical academy of the medical association for preventive medicine and classic natural healing methods, Kneippärztebund e. V. and a pioneer of integrative cardiology.

Life

Education

Volger studied human medicine at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich (LMU) with study visits to Cambridge (GB) and Berlin . In 1969 he received his doctorate in Munich on a topic from neuropathology .

Haemorheology

From 1970 he was part of a working group at the Physiological Institute of the LMU (Holger Schmid-Schönbein), which broke new ground in researching the flow properties of human blood. First papers on pathologically altered hemorheology in diabetes mellitus appeared.

cardiology

He received his cardiological training from 1974 with Hans Blömer at the Klinikum rechts der Isar of the Technical University of Munich (TUM). There he continued the clinical haemorheological studies and received his habilitation in 1980 on the subject of "Experimental and clinical studies on the rheology of blood in cardiovascular diseases and their risk factors". This work was awarded the Albert Knoll Prize in 1983.

Rehabilitation medicine and classic natural healing methods

In 1984 he was appointed chief physician at the Bad Wörishofen Clinic of the LVA (later DRV) Swabia. After familiarizing himself with the potential of classic naturopathic therapies, he advocated their integration into the treatment of chronically heart patients. He represented this as an academic teacher at TUM and, as a board member of the medical association for preventive medicine and classic natural healing methods, founded the Kneippärztebund e. V. a medical academy for advanced and advanced training. He was the scientific director of research institutions, such as the Sebastian Kneipp Institute, Research Institute of the City of Bad Wörishofen and the European Health Center for Naturopathic Treatment, where he studied hydrotherapy and a. performed for high blood pressure . In 2006 he finished his clinical work. In order to obtain the additional title "Naturopathic Treatment" for specialists, he continues to lead the curricular training at the Medical Academy Bad Wörishofen and published the "Course Book Naturopathic Treatment".
