Eberhard Kautzsch

Eberhard Kautzsch (born November 2, 1905 in Darmstadt , † November 19, 1986 in Berlin ) was a German geologist .

Life

Since 1934 Kautzsch was a mining engineer with the German Mining Society in Wiesbaden . In 1937 he became head of the Study Society of German Copper Mining GmbH in Eisleben . After the Second World War he became head of the geological department of the main administration ore mining there in 1946.

In 1956 he went to the Humboldt University in Berlin and became a professor for applied geology. In 1957 he was also chief geologist of the State Geological Commission (later: Central Geological Institute of the GDR ) in Berlin. In 1962 he received the chair for geology at the Humboldt University and became director of the geological institute.

On the basis of his stratigraphic and geological investigations, the development of considerable copper ore deposits in the Mansfeld region was successful . For this he received the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze in 1951 .

In 1957 he was elected a full member of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR .
